A short history of the bubble chair

The original Bubble Chair was created by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio in 1968 and is a clear, ball-shaped seat that hangs from the ceiling. 

A true icon of the 1960s the chair was considered a futuristic design and was a spin-off of Aarnio's earlier creation, the Ball Chair or the 'globe chair'. By constructing the bubble chair from a transparent material and hanging it from the ceiling via a chain, it allowed light in from all directions and appeared to hang in mid-air, almost floating like a bubble.

Our bubble chairs feature the same design ethos, stainless steel frame and acrylic construction as the original Bubble Chair design.
